Global Perspectives at PPIU: Roundtable Discussion Explores Human Rights in Gaza and Singapore

At Schools Cambodia, we believe that fostering a global mindset starts with open, academic dialogue. Recently, the Phnom Penh International University (PPIU) demonstrated its commitment to high-level legal and social discourse by hosting an insightful roundtable discussion. Led by the Faculty of Law and Economics, this event proved that Cambodian classrooms are becoming vibrant hubs for international research and critical thinking.

Cross-Border Research: From Gaza to Singapore

The roundtable, a key component of the university’s Human Rights course, moved beyond textbooks to tackle some of the most pressing and complex issues in modern geopolitics. Led by Prof. Neng Vannak, the discussion provided a platform for international students to present deep-dive research to their Cambodian peers.

The discussion focused on two distinct yet equally significant areas:

1. Human Rights Violations in Gaza: Students examined the root causes, humanitarian impacts, and the ongoing international efforts to promote peace and protection.
2. Human Rights in Singapore: A focused look at the evolution of human rights in the city-state, analyzing its improvements, societal impacts, and unique legal frameworks.

More Than an Academic Exercise

From our perspective at Schools Cambodia, events like these are essential for developing the next generation of leaders. The roundtable was not just about sharing data; it was about:
