Charity Run Raises Support for Border Children’s Education in Cambodia

Around 2,500 people came together in Phnom Penh yesterday for the Run for Education for Border Children, a charity event that combined sport with a shared commitment to helping children affected by the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict continue their education.

Event Overview

The charity run was organised by the Cambodian Education Service Federation in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, with support from Chip Mong Group. Money raised will be donated to the ministry to help children whose education has been disrupted by the border conflict.

Distinguished Participants

Deputy Prime Minister and Education, Youth and Sport Minister Hang Chuon Naron officially opened the event at Chip Mong Land, Project 271. Among those taking part were Tourism Minister Huot Hak, senior officials from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Cambodian Education Service Federation President Hong Lim, members of the Chip Mong Group board of directors, company executives, athletes, community representatives, and members of the public.

Purpose and Impact

Organisers said the initiative gives those children the opportunity to return to school, continue their studies and develop into capable citizens who can contribute to Cambodia’s future.

Minister’s Message

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Naron said the event was about more than raising funds. He said it also promoted patriotism, solidarity and national unity through the spirit of sport.

He encouraged participants to stay active, care for one another and continue working together to create brighter opportunities for Cambodian children, showing that every step taken on the day could help build a better future for the next generation.
