Art, Culture, and Conservation: MoEYS Partners with Art for Kep
PHNOM PENH, February 23, 2026 — In a move to enrich the educational landscape of Cambodia’s coastal regions, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, hosted a courtesy meeting with the leadership of Art for Kep. The discussion focused on a transformative project designed to unite art, culture, and conservation to inspire the youth of Kep province.
A Vision for Sustainable Development
Represented by Secretary General Peter J. Brongers and Chairman Jef Moons (founder of Knai Bang Chatt), Art for Kep presented their sustainable development project titled: “Transforming Kep’s Coastal Landscape where Art, Culture, and Conservation Unite to Inspire”.
The mission of this collaboration is to improve the quality of life for children in Kep by providing:
- Arts Education: Introducing creative learning into the standard curriculum.
- Skill Training: Equipping young people with the creative skills necessary for future careers.
- Eco-Awareness: Using art to educate children about environmental protection, waste management, and the love of nature.
Strengthening Public School Programs
The Ministry highly evaluated Art for Kep’s track record of success in public schools, where they have already integrated:
- Drawing and Creativity Classes: Helping children enjoy the learning process.
- Infrastructure Improvements: Renovating classrooms and creating dedicated art spaces within local schools.
- Eco-Tourism Links: Connecting local communities with national and international art to uplift livelihoods and promote sustainable tourism.
Future Outlook: Beachside Youth Camps
H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron expressed his full support for the project, noting its importance in creating a “fun living and learning environment”. Looking forward, the Deputy Prime Minister shared his hope to organize youth camps along the beaches of Kep, allowing students to gain direct, hands-on experience with the progress of these sustainable and artistic initiatives.
