Aerial Innovation: ITC Kep Launches Drone Technology & Research Center
KEP PROVINCE, March 3, 2026 — In a major boost to Cambodia’s technological infrastructure, H.E. Professor Po Kim Tho conducted a high-level inspection of the newly prepared Drone Technology Training and Research Center at the Techo Hun Sen Chamkar Dong (Techno School-Kep) campus.
The visit marked the official mobilization of the specialized drone team, consisting of dedicated staff and researchers who are now on-site to lead the Kingdom’s foray into advanced UAV applications.
A Multidisciplinary Tech Powerhouse
The ITC-Kep branch is now uniquely equipped to conduct deep-tier research and human resource training. The capabilities of this center are designed to provide a “Drone-as-a-Service” model for several critical sectors:
- Precision Agriculture: Using multispectral sensors to monitor crop health, optimize irrigation, and automate fertilization across Cambodia’s vast farmlands.
- Logistics & Transportation: Researching the future of “Last-Mile” delivery and cargo transport via autonomous aerial routes.
- Geographic Land Surveying: Utilizing LiDAR and photogrammetry to create high-precision 3D maps for urban planning and infrastructure development.
- Disaster Management: Deploying drones for rapid search and rescue operations and real-time damage assessment during floods or storms.
Building Human Capital in Kep
From our perspective at Schools Cambodia, the “Techno School-Kep” expansion is a strategic move to decentralize high-tech education. By placing this research center in Kep:
- Specialized Workforce: Students at the institute get hands-on experience with hardware assembly, flight coding, and data analytics.
- Regional Innovation: The center can collaborate directly with local agricultural and maritime industries in the coastal region.
- National Security & Safety: Developing domestic expertise in UAV technology ensures Cambodia is self-reliant in managing its aerial data and disaster responses.
We congratulate the Institute of Technology of Cambodia for this visionary step. As the drone team begins its work in Chamkar Dong, they aren’t just launching drones—they are launching the future of Cambodian industry.
