Humanitarian Leadership: Cambodia Red Cross Summarizes 2025 Achievements and Sets 2026 Vision
PHNOM PENH, February 24, 2026 — The Central Headquarters of the Cambodia Red Cross (CRC) hosted a prestigious closing ceremony to celebrate the tireless efforts of its youth and volunteers throughout 2025. Presided over by H.E. Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, Permanent Vice President of the CRC and representative of Samdech Kittiprittpundit Dr. Bun Rany Hun Sen, the event outlined a bold roadmap for humanitarian action in 2026.
The assembly brought together 162 key figures, including leadership from the Central and Branch committees, as well as the presidents of Red Cross Youth Clubs from 25 major higher education institutions in Phnom Penh.
Recognizing Student Excellence: Asia-Europe University
A significant highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of the Asia-Europe University (AEU) Red Cross Youth Club. The team was honored for their creative contribution to the 71st Anniversary of the Cambodian Red Cross (1955–2026).
- Creative Achievement: The youth team produced a commemorative short video highlighting over seven decades of humanitarian service.
- Leadership Appointments: New appointments were finalized for the AEU Youth Club, including the Honorary President, Youth Advisor, and Club President, ensuring a strong leadership structure for the year ahead.
- Merit Awards: Students received white cards of praise and letters of thanks for their dedication to the “71 Years of Kindness” campaign.
The 2026 Direction: Expanding Youth Impact
As the CRC moves into 2026, the focus remains on empowering student volunteers to be the “first responders” in their communities. The strategic direction emphasizes:
- Volunteer Capacity Building: Strengthening the training of youth advisors and student leaders across all 25 university branches.
- Digital Humanitarianism: Encouraging more creative media projects, like those seen from AEU, to spread awareness of the CRC’s core missions.
- Grassroots Integration: Ensuring that the 25 branches nationwide work seamlessly with university youth clubs to provide aid where it is most needed.
From the perspective of Schools Cambodia, the integration of Red Cross clubs within universities is a masterclass in character education. We congratulate the newly appointed leaders and the talented team at Asia-Europe University for their outstanding contributions.
