Kampong Cham Celebrates Excellence: Parade Honors Model Schools and Sports Champions
KAMPONG CHAM CITY, February 22, 2026 — The streets of Kampong Cham were filled with pride as the community gathered to celebrate a year of unprecedented success for the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) in the province. The parade highlighted the dedication of educators and students who have transformed the local educational landscape.
A Banner Year for Model Schools
A key highlight of the celebration was the recognition of 23 schools in Kampong Cham that were named Model School Winners. These institutions were selected based on the national “Model School Standard,” which evaluates:
- Student Learning Outcomes: Demonstrating high academic performance and soft skill development.
- Effective Teaching: Implementation of innovative and student-centered methodologies.
- Operational Excellence: Transparent school-based management and accountability.
- Community Engagement: Strong partnerships with parents and local stakeholders.
Sporting Glory: The Hun Sen Cup
The parade also served as a victory lap for the province’s athletes. The crowd cheered for the winners of the Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen Cup, Cambodia’s premier football tournament.
- National Success: Kampong Cham’s football team has emerged as a powerhouse, securing top-tier recognition on the national stage.
- Awarding Excellence: The ceremony honored the athletes and coaches whose discipline and teamwork brought home the Number 1 Winner award, cementing the province’s reputation for athletic prowess.
Honoring Individual Dedication
Education is driven by people, and the 2025-2026 awards recognized the “human capital” behind these systemic successes:
- Model Department Heads: Recognized for strategic leadership at the administrative level.
- Good Directors: Awarded for their vision in transforming school culture and infrastructure.
- Good Teachers: Honored for their dedication to student success and pedagogical innovation.
Driving the Provincial Vision
H.E. Un Chanda emphasized that these achievements are the result of collective effort—from the Provincial Administration to the teachers in the classroom. This parade not only celebrated past wins but also set the stage for Kampong Cham’s goal of becoming a leading hub for the New Generation School (NGS) initiative and modern teacher training.
