Art for a Cause: Berkeley Students Craft “Kindness Keychains” for Charity
PHNOM PENH, February 14, 2026 — This Valentine’s Day, students at Berkeley International School turned their “Art Hour” into a mission of compassion. Armed with beads, clay, and colorful fabrics, the students have been busy creating high-quality handmade keychains and artificial flowers to celebrate the season of love.
From Creativity to Contribution
The initiative was designed to teach students the value of social responsibility through the lens of art. Key highlights of the activity include:
- Handmade Craftsmanship: Students across various grade levels dedicated their art sessions to producing intricate keychains and floral arrangements, focusing on “genuine love and care” in every stitch and fold.
- The Charity Bazaar: These student-made items are being put up for sale to the school community—including parents, staff, and peers.
- Supporting Local Orphanages: 100% of the proceeds and profits raised from this Valentine’s Day sale will be donated to a local orphanage.
Education Beyond the Classroom
Berkeley International School prides itself on a curriculum that nurtures the “whole child.” By participating in this project, students are developing:
- Fine Motor Skills & Design Thinking: Mastering the technical aspects of craft-making.
- Philanthropic Mindset: Understanding the impact of their personal effort on the lives of less fortunate children.
- Community Engagement: Actively participating in a collective school effort to share kindness beyond the campus gates.
