Public School Solidarity: Chea Sim Samaki High School Donates 4 Million Riels for Border Relief
PHNOM PENH, February 17, 2026 — The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) has officially extended its gratitude to the management, teachers, and students of Chea Sim Samaki High School for their proactive support of the national relief effort.
In response to the displacement caused by the conflict along the Cambodia-Thailand border, the school has raised and donated 4,000,000 Riels (Four Million Riels) to support education staff and refugee students currently in need.
From Students to Students: A Community Response
This donation is particularly significant as it represents the collective heart of a local high school community supporting those in the border provinces. The funds will be utilized by the Ministry to:
- Support Displaced Educators: Assisting teachers who have been forced to leave their homes and schools.
- Aid Refugee Students: Providing resources to help displaced children maintain their well-being and access to essentials.
- Emergency Logistics: Contributing to the Ministry’s ongoing transport of supplies to the affected “aggression zones.”
An Ongoing Call for Assistance
The Ministry of Education remains committed to ensuring that the educational infrastructure along the border does not collapse during this time of crisis. The MoEYS continues to operate as a central collection point for:
- Essential Commodities: Clothing, hygiene kits, and blankets for refugee families.
- Nutritional Support: Food items and clean water.
- Academic Supplies: Books, pens, and school kits to ensure that even in refugee camps, learning continues.
The contribution from Chea Sim Samaki High School serves as an inspiration to other public institutions across the country to join the effort in supporting the “right to education” for every Cambodian child, regardless of the circumstances.
