New Gateway International School Contributes 10 Million Riels to Border Relief
PHNOM PENH, February 17, 2026 — The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) has officially recognized and thanked New Gateway International School for its generous sponsorship aimed at supporting the educational community displaced by recent border tensions.
As conflict continues to affect the provinces along the Cambodia-Thailand border, this donation provides critical resources for teachers and students whose lives and schooling have been upended.
Substantial Support for Displaced Learners
The sponsorship package from New Gateway International School includes:
- Financial Contribution: 10,000,000 Riels (Ten Million Riels) to fund emergency operations and support for education staff.
- Essential Provisions: A significant donation of food items to assist refugee students and their families currently residing in temporary shelters.
- Targeted Impact: The aid is specifically designated for education staff, teachers, and students in the frontline provinces.
MoEYS: A Hub for Continued Aid
While the donation from New Gateway International School provides a major boost, the Ministry of Education remains in “active relief mode.” The MoEYS continues to call upon the public and the private sector for contributions in the following categories:
- Academic Continuity: School supplies and materials to help students continue their studies while displaced.
- Basic Survival: Essential commodities, hygiene kits, and clothing.
- Nutritional Support: Non-perishable food items to sustain the thousands of affected individuals across the border zones.
The Ministry has assured all donors that these materials and funds are being transported and distributed with urgency to ensure that the educational backbone of the affected provinces remains intact despite the ongoing aggression.
