PHNOM PENH, February 13, 2026 — Compassion was the theme of the day at the American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) this week. On February 12, the university campus transformed into a hub of solidarity as students, faculty, and staff gathered for the AUPP Blood Drive 2026.
Organized in partnership with the National Blood Transfusion Center (NBTC), the event aimed to address the critical shortage of blood supplies in Cambodia, where Phnom Penh hospitals alone often require over 300 units daily to save lives.
Leading by Example
AUPP has long integrated social responsibility into its core values. By hosting this drive, the university provided a practical platform for students to practice leadership and empathy.
Participants didn’t just donate blood; they helped:
- Replenish National Reserves: Every unit of blood can save up to three lives, assisting in surgeries and emergency trauma care across the Kingdom.
- Break Stigmas: Student-led events help normalize blood donation among the youth, debunking myths and encouraging a new generation of regular donors.
- Foster Unity: The event brought the campus together, reinforcing a culture of giving back that defines the AUPP experience.
A Culture of Giving
The success of the 2026 Blood Drive follows a tradition of ethical leadership at the university. From MBA students rallying for community health to undergraduate clubs leading outreach, AUPP continues to prove that academic excellence goes hand-in-hand with social impact.
“Together, we are building a healthier, stronger community—one donation at a time,” the university shared in a statement following the event, thanking the donors who helped them reach their ambitious goals for the year.
