Global Connections: Harrods Students Join Virtual Exchange with Tokyo
The world became a little smaller and much more exciting this week for students at Harrods International Academy. Through a vibrant, interactive Student Exchange Programme, Harrods students connected with their peers from the Global Schools Group in Tokyo, Japan, for a unique cross-cultural Zoom session.
Building Bridges via Digital Exchange
The program was designed to foster curiosity and communication, moving beyond traditional lessons to create real-time international friendships. The session focused on:
- Thematic Discussions: Students engaged in guided conversations centered around a shared theme, allowing them to compare their daily lives and interests with students in Tokyo.
- Cultural Understanding: By interacting directly with peers from a different country, students developed an early appreciation for diverse perspectives and global traditions.
- Zoom Activities: Interactive games and collaborative tasks ensured the digital medium remained high-energy and engaging for all participants.
Developing Global Citizens
The impact of the Student Exchange Programme extends far beyond the duration of the Zoom call. Harrods International Academy uses these sessions to cultivate essential life skills:
- Confidence & Communication: Speaking with new people in a foreign environment helps students build self-assurance.
- Respectful Interaction: Students practice the etiquette of international dialogue and active listening.
- Sense of Global Citizenship: Forming meaningful connections beyond their own campus encourages children to see themselves as part of a larger global community.
