Green Entrepreneurship in Action: AUPP Business Students Explore the Southern Coast
KAMPOT/KEP, March 5, 2026 — While many business students spend their time analyzing spreadsheets, members of the AUPP Business Society spent their weekend analyzing the real-world logistics of one of Cambodia’s most famous exports. Their two-day sustainable business trip provided a deep dive into the local economies of the South, focusing on eco-tourism and high-end agribusiness.
Field Study: From Mangroves to Peppercorns
The trip was designed to move beyond theory and into the heart of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and supply chain management:
- Environmental Stewardship: At Trapeang Sangke, students participated in mangrove planting. This served as a practical lesson in how local communities can build sustainable business models around conservation and eco-tourism.
- Agribusiness & Export Logistics: A visit to La Plantation allowed students to study a world-class supply chain. They explored how a local product (Kampot Pepper) is branded, certified (GI status), and moved through international logistics to global markets.
- Economic Observation: City explorations in Kampot and Kep gave students a firsthand look at the post-pandemic recovery of the hospitality sector and the rise of boutique, community-driven enterprises.
Building the Professional Network
From our perspective at Schools Cambodia, these trips are essential for developing “soft skills” that can’t be taught in a lecture hall:
- Leadership through Adventure: Hiking through Kep National Park challenged students to lead and support one another, building the teamwork skills necessary for high-stakes corporate environments.
- Theory to Reality: Seeing “Sustainable Business” in action helps students understand the complexities of balancing community needs with commercial viability.
- Networking: Experiences like the sunset cruise allowed members of the Business Society to bond, forming the foundation of a professional network that will last long after graduation.
We congratulate the AUPP Business Society for their commitment to sustainable growth. If you are looking for a university that bridges the gap between American-standard education and the Cambodian business reality, AUPP is currently accepting applications for both Bachelor’s and Master’s programs.
