Battambang-Russia Academic Bridge: NUBB Welcomes Saint Petersburg University Delegation
BATTAMBANG, February 10, 2026 — The National University of Battambang (NUBB) recently hosted a high-level academic delegation from Saint Petersburg University, one of Russia’s oldest and most prestigious institutions. Led by Professor Sergey Dmitrenko, the visit marks the operational expansion of the SPbU Representative Office located within the NUBB campus.
Representing H.E. Sok Khorn, Rector of NUBB, Mr. Tieng Morin (Vice-Rector) led the welcoming committee. The discussions solidified a roadmap for deep institutional integration, focusing on research synergy and robust student mobility programs.
A Campus Tour of Innovation
The Russian delegation, including four exchange students, conducted a comprehensive inspection of NUBB’s facilities to assess readiness for joint scientific projects. The tour included:
- Agricultural & Bio-Research: Visits to the agricultural garden and fish farming ponds, highlighting NUBB’s strength in sustainable food processing.
- Scientific Infrastructure: Evaluation of the campus laboratories and library resources for upcoming collaborative research.
- Dedicated SPbU Office: A visit to the Saint Petersburg University representative office, which serves as the permanent administrative bridge between the two cities.
Breaking the Language Barrier
To ensure that NUBB students can successfully compete for exchange spots at SPbU and other Russian universities, the university has announced the launch of short-term Russian language courses.
- Native Instruction: Classes will be taught directly by native Russian instructors from Saint Petersburg.
- Exchange Readiness: These courses are specifically designed to prepare Cambodian students for life and study in the Russian Federation.
- Cultural Bridge: Beyond language, the program will introduce students to Russian history and academic culture.
Why This Matters for NUBB Students
This partnership is not merely symbolic; it provides a tangible pathway for students in the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Agriculture to engage in high-level research. With a permanent representative office on-site, NUBB students now have direct access to Russian academic competitions, certified language testing, and joint scientific symposiums.
