Safety by Design: MAKSON Academy Students Master Classroom Responsibility
PHNOM PENH, February 13, 2026 — Classrooms for early learners are vibrant spaces of creativity, but they also require a high standard of safety awareness. On Friday, February 13, MAKSON International Academy (Branch 598) held an essential assembly for students ranging from Pre-K to Advanced levels (EY3 to EY5) focused on the safe use and storage of classroom materials.
The session moved beyond simple rules, aiming to foster a deep sense of responsibility among the children for their own safety and the protection of their learning resources.
A Trilingual Approach to Safety
To ensure that the message was accessible to all students in their diverse community, the academy utilized a trilingual educational strategy. The students engaged with three short videos presented in:
- Khmer
- English
- Chinese
These engaging videos helped reinforce critical safety messages regarding the handling of everyday items like pencils and crayons, ensuring every child understood the importance of classroom caution.
Hands-On Demonstrations
School leadership took an active role in the assembly, providing live demonstrations of proper precautionary techniques. Students were shown:
- Proper Handling: The correct way to hold and pass pencils and crayons to prevent accidents.
- Safe Storage: Best practices for storing materials to avoid stationery-related incidents and protect the longevity of the classroom’s learning materials.
By focusing on these practical skills, MAKSON Academy is doing more than preventing minor injuries; they are creating a safe and responsible school environment where students learn the value of mindfulness from their very first years in school.
