Regional Development: Kampong Cham Working Team Sets Strategic Direction for 2026
KAMPONG CHAM, February 23, 2026 — In a major assembly held at the Kampong Cham Provincial School, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister, joined H.E. Dr. Net Savoeun to review the impactful results of the 2025 local government working team and outline the roadmap for 2026.
The convention focused on the “win-win” policies that have successfully addressed citizens’ needs at the grassroots level, specifically within the Kang Meas District and throughout the province.
2025: A Year of Grassroots Achievement
The working team, consisting of 1,548 members, achieved significant milestones in serving approximately 45,000 citizens. Key successes evaluated during the session included:
- Model School Innovations: Direct investment in human capital through the renovation of local schools to meet modern standards.
- Public Service Resolution: Successfully addressing land disputes and construction requests to improve local livelihoods.
- Infrastructure Growth: Promoting the construction of local circular roads and essential infrastructure using surplus resources.
- The “Safe Village-Municipality” Policy: A marked reduction in drug-related crimes and a measurable improvement in public order.
The 2026 Vision: Efficiency and Sustainability
To build on the momentum of 2025, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron introduced five key recommendations to enhance the government’s service to the people:
- Case Tracking System: Moving toward a digital, systematic management tool to monitor citizen requests from proposal to completion.
- Evidence-Based Reporting: Utilizing clear data and visual evidence to ensure transparency and accountability in all local projects.
- Prioritizing Essentials: Focus will be shifted toward pending proposals in electricity, clean water, and agriculture based on urgency.
- Multilevel Coordination: Strengthening the link between national and sub-national authorities to solve complex cases.
- Long-term Care Plans: Ensuring that infrastructure, health, and education investments are not just built, but maintained for long-term sustainability.
H.E. Dr. Net Savoeun concluded the assembly by urging all teams to maintain internal unity and increase the frequency of public forums. By staying close to the people, the government aims to ensure that human resource development remains the central pillar of Cambodia’s future.
