Green Passions and Eco-Bricks: CamEd’s Valentine for the Planet
PHNOM PENH, February 16, 2026 — While the world celebrated romantic love, the Cambodian Librarians Association and the CamEd Sustainable Development Club hosted a powerful gathering focused on “practicing love for the planet through action, technology, and collaboration”. Supported by CamEd Business School, the event transformed the campus into a hub for zero-waste innovation.
Entrepreneurship with Impact: The Eco-Brick Journey
One of the most significant highlights was the presentation on Eco-Bricks. This project showcases how “waste can become value” by:
- Cleaning Ecosystems: Collecting plastic waste that would otherwise pollute rivers and landfills.
- Innovative Processing: Shredding and processing plastic into durable, affordable construction bricks.
- Sustainable Building: Reducing construction costs and minimizing cement use, which directly helps fight climate change.
- Business Opportunity: Proving to students that sustainability is a viable business model where problems become solutions.
400 Seconds of Inspiration
The “Green Passions in 400 Seconds” segment featured students sharing dynamic, rapid-fire presentations on:
- Zero-Waste Ideas: Practical methods for reducing daily consumption.
- Eco-Friendly Habits: Simple lifestyle changes to minimize environmental footprints.
- Green Hobbies: Sustainable activities that promote environmental health.
Libraries as Drivers of Change
In the afternoon, librarians from PSE, Western University, and the National Election Library shifted the conversation toward the role of institutional knowledge. They demonstrated how modern libraries are no longer just quiet spaces but “drivers of sustainable change” through:
- Digital Innovation: Using technology to reduce paper waste and improve accessibility.
- Thoughtful Policies: Implementing eco-conscious rules for library management.
- Sustainable Technology: Utilizing AI and digital tools to promote a zero-waste future.
