Voice of the Future: BELTEI IU Concludes Season 3 of the University-Level Debate Competition
PHNOM PENH, February 28, 2026 — The atmosphere at the BELTEI International University Hall (Campus 1 – Toul Sleng) was electric this Saturday as the final round of the Season 3 Debate Competition reached its peak. Under the high presidency of H.E. Ly Navuth, President of BELTEI IU, the university celebrated the intellectual prowess of students across various faculties from both the National and International Programs.
This competition serves as a prestigious platform for students to demonstrate their research capabilities, public speaking confidence, and mastery of both the Khmer and English languages.
The Art of Persuasion: Why Debating Matters
Debating is a cornerstone of the BELTEI IU experience. Unlike standard classroom lectures, the “Season 3 Final” challenged students to engage with high-level cognitive processes:
- Evidence-Based Reasoning: Students were required to back every claim with data, a skill essential for modern legal, business, and political careers.
- Rebuttal & Quick Thinking: The “Final Round” tested the students’ ability to listen intently to an opponent and formulate a logical response in seconds.
- Academic Synergy: By involving both National and International curriculum students, the competition fostered a diverse exchange of ideas and cultural perspectives.
Recognition of Excellence
During the ceremony, H.E. Ly Navuth presented certificates not only to the winning student teams but also to the management, lecturers, and judges who dedicated months to training these young orators.
From our perspective at Schools Cambodia, this “Season 3” milestone highlights BELTEI IU’s success in:
- Faculty Involvement: Teachers and trainers at BELTEI are more than just instructors; they are coaches who help students refine their rhetorical style.
- Infrastructure for Talent: Utilizing the grand halls of the Toul Sleng campus provides students with a professional stage that mimics international debating forums.
- Holistic Development: Moving students from “learners” to “advocates,” preparing them to represent Cambodia on the global stage.
We congratulate the finalists and winners of the BELTEI IU Debate Competition. In the world of 2026, those who can speak with clarity and reason are the ones who will lead the way.
