Shaping the Future: AEU Hosts Public Lecture on “Cambodia Vision 2050”
PHNOM PENH, February 25, 2026 — The conference hall on the 13th floor of the Golden Building at Asia Euro University (AEU) was filled to capacity as 300 students and faculty members gathered for a high-level briefing on the nation’s future.
The special guest speaker, H.E. Pen Bona, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister and Head of the Government Spokesperson Unit, delivered an inspiring lecture titled “The Participation of Youth to Achieve the Vision of Cambodia 2050.”
Understanding the 2050 Roadmap
The lecture focused on the government’s long-term strategy to transform Cambodia into a high-income nation by 2050. H.E. Pen Bona emphasized that this transformation is not just a government project, but a generational mission that relies on the “Pentagon Strategy.”
The core areas where youth engagement is critical include:
- Human Capital Development: Mastering technical skills and digital literacy to drive a modern economy.
- Economic Diversification: Moving beyond traditional sectors into high-value manufacturing and technology.
- Good Governance: Fostering a culture of transparency and civic responsibility.
- Resilient Infrastructure: Building sustainable cities and digital networks.
A Call to Action for Students
From our perspective at Schools Cambodia, this lecture serves as a vital reminder that university education is the engine of national progress. H.E. Pen Bona highlighted that the “youth of today” are the “architects of 2050,” urging AEU students to:
- Embrace Lifelong Learning: The global economy of 2050 will require constant adaptation and reskilling.
- Participate in Policy: Stay informed about national goals to better align personal career paths with the country’s needs.
- Lead with Innovation: Use university research to solve local problems, from agriculture to urban planning.
H.E. Ly Kunthai, Chairman of AEU, expressed his gratitude for the Minister’s visit, noting that such insights are invaluable for motivating students to strive for excellence beyond their exams.
