PHNOM PENH, February 13, 2026 — The sky is no longer the limit for the newest cohort of aviation students at BELTEI International University. On Thursday, February 12, 2026, the university organized a massive practical training session for 100 first-year students from the Faculty of Civil Aviation, bridging the gap between classroom theory and the high-stakes world of flight operations.
The event saw students from Campus 1 (Tuol Sleng) travel to the specialized facilities at Campus 2 (Chom Chao Flyover). The move was designed to give these semester-one freshmen an early look at the professional environment they will one day lead.
Hands-on with Industry-Standard Tech
The training focused on two of the most critical components of modern aviation:
- The Flight Simulator Room: Where students moved from reading textbooks to experiencing the controls of an aircraft in a controlled, realistic environment.
- The Air Traffic Control (ATC E-Strip) Room: A deep dive into the “invisible highways” of the sky, where students learned about the essential equipment used to manage Cambodia’s increasingly busy airspace.
Bridging Theory and Practice
While first-year studies are often heavy on theory, BELTEI’s Faculty of Civil Aviation emphasizes the importance of early exposure. By seeing and touching the equipment used in the Cambodian aviation industry, students gain a more profound understanding of their future roles.
“The aim is to provide students with a clear view of both the theoretical and practical aspects of the sector,” a university representative noted. “These are essential factors for the growth of the Cambodian aviation industry.”
A Growing Sector
With Cambodia’s tourism and trade sectors expanding, the demand for highly skilled pilots, technicians, and air traffic controllers is higher than ever. Practical training sessions like this ensure that local graduates are not just degree-holders, but industry-ready professionals.
