About AUPP Liger Leadership Academy

Liger Leadership Academy (LLA) was founded by Trevor and Agnieszka Gile, who first visited Cambodia in 2002 and were inspired to make a positive impact on the country’s future. Recognizing the lack of opportunities for many Cambodians, they established The Liger Charitable Foundation in 2009, with LLA as its pilot project. After extensive research and planning, the academy opened its doors in 2012, initially hosting 60 students.

LLA is dedicated to educating promising youth to become socially conscious, entrepreneurial leaders. The academy offers a residential scholarship program that combines a comprehensive, internationally competitive education with an innovative STEM and entrepreneurship curriculum. The mission is to invest in the education of a promising few who can become impactful change agents, ultimately benefiting Cambodian society as a whole.

Over the years, LLA has celebrated significant milestones, including the graduation of its first cohort of 50 students in 2020 and its second cohort of 52 students in 2023. The academy continues to recruit new cohorts, with the third group of 60 students beginning their journey in January 2023.

LLA’s students have achieved remarkable successes, such as being the first high school team admitted into Cambodia’s Business Model Competition, where they secured third place in 2018 and first place in 2019. Additionally, in 2019, Liger junior students placed second out of 7,200 participants from 57 countries in the Technovation global finals with their app “Naeng-Norng,” dedicated to preserving Khmer poetry.

Through its innovative educational model and commitment to nurturing future leaders, Liger Leadership Academy continues to make a lasting impact on Cambodia’s development.
